Product Description:
This is a cool season grower here in the southeast US. Concensus would say it doesn't grow here. BUT.... If it is over-summered in a small container that wont allow it to hold a lot of water/moisture, then it can survive to be planted the following fall. Then it can bloom in early summer the second year! The key is to keep the upper feeder roots dry during the summer and only allow the taproot to reach moisture. It sounds more complicated than it actually is... I discovered this trick on accident by being lazy and failing to pot up the mullein! Perfect for Mediterranean climates!
A stunning plant that can grow up to ten feet its second year, covered in bloom all the way up. A stunning centerpiece to any more mild climate gardens. The plethora of Salmon-red blooms spiraling up from the blue gray rosette of foliage is a sight to behold. A rewarding plant to grow and nurture.

Origination: Canary Islands
Historic Uses: Ornamental
Height: 10Ft (3m)
Hardiness: USDA 9-10
Flower Color: Red

Growing Instructions:
Full sun, Moderate water. Cactus soil is best, something sandy and gritty while being well draining is perfect. Seeds can be started in seed trays several weeks, before spring and grown indoors to give them a head start during the growing season. Keep seeds moist until germination. Once temperatures even out and become mild, tower of jewel seedlings may be planted outdoors in a sunny spot. While tower of jewels can tolerate down to 20 F. (-6 C.), it cannot thrive in these conditions and should be given protection during dips into low temperatures. Does quite well in a greenhouse setting. Mature blooming plants will self-seed easily, repeating the cycle if overwintered correctly.
While quite drought tolerant, include regular watering in summer to help produce a strong spire that doesn’t tip over.

Ships in 3" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. Please understand that shipped plants have bumpy rides. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰

Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
