Product Description:

Stapelianthus decaryi is a compact, sculptural succulent species from Madagascar, admired for its unusual growth form and striking star‑shaped flowers. The plant forms tight clusters of angular, four‑sided stems that range from deep green to gray‑green, often mottled or lightly textured. Stems remain short and upright, creating a tidy, architectural mound that fits beautifully into small pots and succulent collections.

The flowers are the true highlight: bold, five‑pointed stars with a velvety surface, typically colored in rich maroon, burgundy, or chocolate tones. The center often features a contrasting raised corona. Like many stapeliads, the blooms may carry a faint carrion scent to attract pollinating flies, though S. decaryi is generally milder than its larger relatives. Its compact size, distinctive geometry, and dramatic blooms make it a favorite among collectors of unusual succulents.

Growing Conditions:

Provide bright light to full sun for best stem color and compact growth. Use a gritty, fast‑draining cactus or succulent mix with added pumice or coarse sand. Water sparingly — allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, especially in cooler months. Protect from frost and prolonged cold. Excellent for small pots, rock gardens, windowsills, and specialty succulent displays. Avoid overwatering, as this species is highly sensitive to root rot.

Ships in 3.5" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰
