It grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall and spreads to form mats up to 12 inches (30 cm) wide. The plant produces star-shaped flowers that are neon yellow/green.Growing Instructions: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight. It can also grow in light shade. Use a gritty, well-drained soil. A commercial cactus or succulent mix works well. Mildly alkaline soil with a pH of 7.5 to 8.5. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce watering in the dormant season (fall and winter). It is very heat-resistant and can tolerate quite cold temperatures and light frost. Ideal temperatures are between 50°F (10°C) and 80°F (27°C). Use a balanced, diluted fertilizer. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.Ships in the 3.5” pots shown in the pictures. You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured however they may have grown some or depending on the time of year, they could be semi-dormant. Some plants will drop their leaves in winter - Crown of Thorns, Buddha Belly Jatropha, Etc. I have only grown plants in Florida and will send out anything I feel comfortable will grow here. Many kinds of leaves will re-root and grow into a new plant. Some that do not are Cotyledon and Aeonium. After 24 hours, my job is done and it is up to you (The buyer) to know how to keep it alive. I will accept some returns, however, since a shipped plant cannot be returned in its original condition, I can only offer a 50% refund. 3.5" pot, Succulents, Succulent

Name: Huernia pendurata

Scientific Name: Huernia × pendurata

Family: Apocynaceae

Product Description:

Huernia pendurata is a nursery hybrid, likely derived from Huernia hystrix and Huernia pendula, though some sources suggest Huernia recondita and Huernia aspera as possible parents. It features trailing, snake-like stems with soft, fleshy teeth and a prostrate growth habit, making it ideal for hanging baskets. The flowers are cup-shaped with curved-back lobes, densely covered in spiny tubercles, and range in color from deep maroon to crimson red. Like other stapeliads, the blooms emit a carrion-like scent to attract fly pollinators.

Origination: Horticultural hybrid; not found in nature

Historic Uses: Ornamental succulent for hanging baskets, collectors, and oddity gardens

Height: Stems trail up to 8 inches (20 cm)

Hardiness: USDA Zones 10a–11b

Flower Color: Deep maroon to crimson red with spiny texture

Maturity: Blooms from late summer through fall

Other Names: Sometimes referred to as Huernia × pendurata hort.; not botanically valid

Growing Instructions:

Huernia pendurata thrives in bright, filtered light and prefers a gritty, well-draining soil mix—ideally cactus soil amended with perlite or pumice. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to near zero to prevent rot. Ideal temperatures range from 40–85°F, and the plant should be protected from frost. Fertilize lightly during active growth with a balanced formula. Avoid moving the plant while buds are forming, as this may cause flower drop. Best displayed in hanging pots to showcase its trailing stems and downward-facing blooms.
