Name: Variegated Hoya weyettii, Variegated Waxvine

Scientific Name: Hoya weyettii ‘Variegated’

Family Name: Apocynaceae

Product Description:

Hoya weyettii ‘Variegated’ is a highly ornamental tropical vine prized for its elongated, narrow leaves edged with creamy yellow to soft lime variegation. The foliage is semi‑succulent, glossy, and often displays a warm reddish tint when exposed to bright light, giving the plant a dynamic, color‑shifting appearance. Leaves typically measure 2–4 inches long and form gracefully along slender trailing stems.

Mature plants produce clusters of small, star‑shaped flowers in shades of orange‑red to deep burgundy, each with a contrasting corona. Blooms are lightly fragrant and appear on established peduncles throughout the warm season. This cultivar is especially valued for its combination of striking foliage and reliable flowering, making it a standout in hanging baskets, trellised displays, and indoor tropical collections.

Ornamental vine for tropical plant collections, hanging baskets, and decorative indoor displays

USDA Zones 10–12 (grown indoors elsewhere)

Growing Conditions:

Provide bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation; gentle morning sun enhances color without scorching. Use a well‑draining mix such as orchid bark, coarse perlite, and coco coir. Water when the top layer of soil dries, reducing frequency in cooler months. Maintain warm temperatures (65–85°F) and moderate to high humidity. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a balanced or high‑potassium formula. Allow the plant to remain slightly root‑bound to encourage blooming. Excellent for hanging baskets, wall trellises, and indoor tropical displays.

Ships in 3.5" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. Please understand that shipped plants have bumpy rides. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰

Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
