My apologies for this inconvenience.Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' is a stunning cultivar of the Hoya pubicalyx, known for its beautiful, fragrant flowers and unique foliageHoya, also known as the wax plant, porcelain flower, or Indian rope plant, is a popular houseplant known for its attractive, waxy foliage and fragrant, star-shaped flowers.DescriptionHoyas have long, trailing stems that can grow up to 2-4 feet (60-90 cm) in length. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and waxy, often oval or heart-shaped, and can vary in color from dark green to variegated with white or yellow patterns. The flowers are typically star-shaped, with colors ranging from white, pink, yellow, orange, to purple. They bloom in clusters and have a sweet, pleasant fragrance1. The flowers are often described as looking like porcelain or wax, hence the common names. Hoyas can be grown as hanging plants or trained to climb on trellises or supports. They are slow-growing and can live for many years with proper care. Hoyas are native to tropical regions of Asia, including the Philippines, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and New Guinea.Care and CultivationThey thrive in humid, tropical environments and are often found growing as epiphytes on tree trunks and branches. Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can be too intense, especially in the afternoon. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a blend of orchid potting mix, perlite, pine bark, and peat moss. Prefers some humidity, reflecting its rainforest origins. Consider using a humidifier or placing the plant in a humid room, such as a bathroom, if there is enough light. Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer once a month during the growing season.Fun FactBlooming: Hoyas can take several years to bloom, and they often produce flowers on the same spurs year after year. The flowers are nocturnal, opening at night and releasing a sweet fragrance. Hoyas are relatively low-maintenance and make excellent houseplants for those who enjoy fragrant, beautiful blooms. You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured. Ships in a 3.5" pot. We put great care into packaging our plants but due to the nature of the items shipped, it is possible for leaves or stems to bend or break in transit. Broken stems can be replanted after the open wound heals/dries to make two plants. Hoyas are very good at that! However, If your plant arrives rotting or dead, I will replace it for you. Please contact me within 24 hours of delivery of your plants. It is my duty to get you a live healthy plant- a few broken leaves not counting as this is normal. After 24 hours, my job is done and it is up to you (The buyer) to know how to keep it alive. Scientific Name: Hoya sp. AH001 (Vietnam collection)
Family Name: Apocynaceae
Product Description
Hoya AH001 Vietnam is a distinctive Vietnamese large‑leaf species recognized for its elongated, tapered foliage and clean, elegant growth habit. Leaves are medium‑thick, smooth, and slightly glossy, typically shaped in a long oval with a gentle point at the tip. Venation is subtle rather than deeply raised, giving the leaf a refined, streamlined appearance. Many plants show light speckling or soft mottling, especially under bright light, adding visual texture without overwhelming the leaf surface.
This form grows with a graceful, upright vining habit, producing well‑spaced leaves that create a tidy, architectural look. When mature, AH001 Vietnam develops clusters of star‑shaped flowers in creamy white to pale pink, each with a darker corona. The blooms are lightly fragrant and appear on slender peduncles during warm months. Collectors value this accession for its sleek leaf shape, reliable growth, and the understated beauty typical of Vietnamese Hoya species.
Origination: Wild‑collected form from Vietnam; AH‑series field collection
Historic Uses: Ornamental houseplant, collector’s specimen, tropical foliage display
Height / Growth Habit: Vining epiphyte; trailing or climbing stems typically 2–6 feet indoors
Hardiness: USDA Zones 10–11 (grown indoors elsewhere)
Flower Color: Creamy white to pale pink with darker corona; lightly fragrant
Other Names: Hoya AH001, Vietnam AH001 Wax Plant
Growing Conditions
Provide bright, indirect light or filtered sun. AH001 Vietnam prefers an airy, well‑draining substrate with added perlite, pumice, or orchid bark to mimic its natural epiphytic environment. Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as this species dislikes soggy roots. Maintain warm temperatures, moderate humidity, and gentle airflow for best growth. Protect from frost. Excellent for trellises, moss poles, hanging displays, and indoor tropical collections where its long, elegant leaves can be showcased.
Ships in 3.5" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. Please understand that shipped plants have bumpy rides. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰
Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
