My apologies for this inconvenience.Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' is a stunning cultivar of the Hoya pubicalyx, known for its beautiful, fragrant flowers and unique foliageHoya, also known as the wax plant, porcelain flower, or Indian rope plant, is a popular houseplant known for its attractive, waxy foliage and fragrant, star-shaped flowers.DescriptionHoyas have long, trailing stems that can grow up to 2-4 feet (60-90 cm) in length. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and waxy, often oval or heart-shaped, and can vary in color from dark green to variegated with white or yellow patterns. The flowers are typically star-shaped, with colors ranging from white, pink, yellow, orange, to purple. They bloom in clusters and have a sweet, pleasant fragrance1. The flowers are often described as looking like porcelain or wax, hence the common names. Hoyas can be grown as hanging plants or trained to climb on trellises or supports. They are slow-growing and can live for many years with proper care. Hoyas are native to tropical regions of Asia, including the Philippines, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and New Guinea.Care and CultivationThey thrive in humid, tropical environments and are often found growing as epiphytes on tree trunks and branches. Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can be too intense, especially in the afternoon. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a blend of orchid potting mix, perlite, pine bark, and peat moss. Prefers some humidity, reflecting its rainforest origins. Consider using a humidifier or placing the plant in a humid room, such as a bathroom, if there is enough light. Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer once a month during the growing season.Fun FactBlooming: Hoyas can take several years to bloom, and they often produce flowers on the same spurs year after year. The flowers are nocturnal, opening at night and releasing a sweet fragrance. Hoyas are relatively low-maintenance and make excellent houseplants for those who enjoy fragrant, beautiful blooms. You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured. Ships in a 3.5" pot. We put great care into packaging our plants but due to the nature of the items shipped, it is possible for leaves or stems to bend or break in transit. Please contact me within 24 hours of delivery of your plants. It is my duty to get you a live healthy plant- a few broken leaves not counting as this is normal. Name: Hoya obovata

Scientific Name: Hoya obovata

Family: Apocynaceae

Product Description:

Hoya obovata is a fast-growing, semi-succulent vine native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. It’s prized for its thick, glossy, obovate leaves — often splashed with silver speckles — and its ability to trail or climb with ease. When mature, it produces clusters of pale pink, star-shaped flowers with a darker pink corona, each bloom measuring about 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) across. The flowers are fragrant and typically appear from spring through summer, lasting up to 14 days. Its robust nature and ornamental foliage make it a standout in hanging baskets, trellised displays, or tabletop arrangements.

Origination: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam

Historic Uses: Ornamental vine for tropical plant collections, hanging baskets, and indoor air purification

Height: Vining stems can reach 12–20 feet with support

Hardiness: USDA Zones 11a–11b

Flower Color: Pale pink with a darker pink corona

Maturity: Blooms in spring and summer, typically after 2–3 years of growth

Other Names: Wax Plant, Waxflower, sometimes confused with Hoya carnosa due to similar growth habit

Growing Instructions:

Hoya obovata thrives in bright, indirect light, though it can tolerate lower light levels. Use a well-draining soil mix—such as peat, perlite, and orchid bark—to promote aeration and prevent root rot. Water thoroughly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in fall and winter. Maintain temperatures between 65–85°F and avoid cold drafts. Humidity above 50% is ideal, but the plant adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Fertilize with a high-potassium formula at half strength every two weeks during active growth. Best grown slightly root-bound in shallow containers.
