Scientific Name: Haworthia maughanii x truncata Hybrid
Family: Asphodelaceae
Product Description
Haworthia maughanii x truncata is a fascinating succulent hybrid that combines the unique characteristics of its parent species, Haworthia maughanii and Haworthia truncata. This hybrid typically grows in small rosettes with thick, fleshy leaves that are either truncated or rounded at the tips. The leaves often have translucent "windows" at the tips, which help maximize light absorption for photosynthesis. It can reach a height of 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) and a similar diameter. The leaves are arranged in a tight, compact form and can vary in color from green to blue-green. They may have rough, warty textures depending on the specific cross. In spring or early summer, it produces slender inflorescences bearing small, white to pale pink tubular flowers. Both parent species are native to South Africa, typically growing in semi-arid regions with rocky, well-drained soils. They thrive in environments with hot summers, mild winters, and occasional frost. The hybrid shares these adaptations, making it suitable for similar environments.
Origination: South Africa
Historic Uses: Ornamental, Collectable
Height: 2-4 Inches
Hardiness: USDA 9+
Flower Color: white/Pink
Growing Instructions:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight, especially during midday, can cause leaf burn. An east or west-facing window with filtered sunlight is ideal. Requires well-draining succulent mix. A commercial succulent soil or a mix of regular potting soil with perlite, pumice, or coarse sand is recommended. Water thoroughly in spring and fall when growth is most active, and less in winter. Allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again. Likes warmer temperatures in summer and cool in winter. Can withstand temperatures as low as 30°F (-1.1°C). USDA zones 10a to 11b (30°F to 50°F). Strong, drought-tolerant roots grow well with great drainage and infrequent watering.
Ships in the 3.5” pots shown in the pictures. You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured however they may have grown some or depending on the time of year, they could be semi-dormant. Some plants will drop their leaves in winter - Crown of Thorns, Buddha Belly Jatropha, Etc. I have only grown plants in Florida and will send out anything I feel comfortable will grow here. It is up to you to know the conditions that these plants grow in the part of the country you reside. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it for you. Please contact me with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery of your plants. It is my commitment to provide you with a live, healthy plant. Please note that minor cosmetic damage, such as a few broken leaves or small stems, may occur during transit and is a common risk inherent in the shipping process. Again, we cannot guarantee that some leaves won’t be broken or fall off- It is normal to lose some depending on the variety (Sedum, Echeveria, Cotyledon, Graptopetalum, etc...). Many kinds of leaves will re-root and grow into a new plant. Some that do not are Cotyledon and Aeonium. After 24 hours, my job is done and it is up to you (The buyer) to know how to keep it alive.
Heat packs are available for purchase with your item to use if cold weather is expected at the time of shipment. (Link to Heat Pack: bit.ly/40ugd4J ) Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. I will cancel any order I feel won't make it safely to its destination without freezing. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 I don't make any profit off of them because they are a necessary shipping item in winter.
