Consider using a humidifier or placing the plant in a humid room, such as a bathroom, if there is enough light. Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Hoyas can take several years to bloom, and they often produce flowers on the same spurs year after year so don't remove the spurs when flowers drop! Scientific Name: Dischidia platyphylla
Family: Apocynaceae
Product Description:
Dischidia platyphylla is a compact, epiphytic vine native to the Philippines, known for its flat, rounded leaves that grow tightly against vertical surfaces in a shingling pattern. The leaves are succulent and smooth, ranging from bright green to gray-green, and often overlap like roof tiles. Beneath each leaf, adventitious roots help anchor the plant to bark or wood. This species has a mutualistic relationship with arboreal ants, which nest inside the hollow leaf bases and provide nutrients through detritus. Flowers are small, white to cream, and appear sporadically under ideal conditions. Its compact form and unusual growth habit make it ideal for mounted displays and terrarium walls.
