Product Description:

Scutellaria barbata, commonly known as Barbat Skullcap, is a perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Native to Asia, it typically grows up to 1 Ft (35 cm) tall. The plant features lightly toothed, lance-shaped leaves and produces purple-blue, lightly hairy flowers that are about a centimeter long. It thrives in moist and wet habitats, such as paddy fields. It will grow in somewhat drier soils also. It isn't picky at all for me in Florida.

Growing Instructions:

Scutellaria barbata, or Barbat Skullcap, thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers partial to full sun exposure. It's best to plant it in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Alternatively, it can be propagated by dividing roots or taking cuttings. Once established, Barbat Skullcap is relatively low-maintenance and drought-tolerant. It's important to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season, but avoid waterlogging. This plant is also deer and rabbit resistant, making it a great addition to gardens where these animals are a concern.

Ships in 3" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. Please understand that shipped plants have bumpy rides. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰
