Name: Baby Jade, Dwarf Jade, Mini Jade
Scientific Name: Crassula ovata ‘Compact’
Family Name: Crassulaceae
Product Description:
Crassula ovata ‘Compact’ is a dwarf, tight‑growing form of the classic jade plant, featuring smaller, thicker leaves and short internodes that create a dense, miniature tree‑like structure. The foliage is glossy and bright green, often developing red edging in strong light. Its naturally compact habit makes it ideal for small containers, bonsai‑style shaping, and indoor displays where space is limited. Mature plants may produce clusters of tiny, star‑shaped white to pale pink flowers under ideal conditions.
Origination: Horticultural selection; species native to South Africa and Mozambique
Historic Uses: Ornamental succulent, container plant, indoor specimen, bonsai‑style training
Height: 1–2 feet tall; stays smaller and denser than standard Crassula ovata
Hardiness Zone: USDA Zones 10–12 (grown indoors elsewhere)
Flower Color: White to pale pink
Other Names: Baby Jade, Dwarf Jade, Mini Jade, Compact Jade
Growing Conditions:
Grow in bright light to full sun with excellent drainage. Prefers sandy or gritty soil and infrequent watering, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. Protect from frost and prolonged cold. Excellent for containers, windowsills, and indoor gardens where its compact, architectural form can be showcased.
Ships in 3.5" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. Please understand that shipped plants have bumpy rides. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰
Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
