Product Description
The Lemon Drop pepper, also known as Ají Limón, is a vibrant and flavorful chili pepper native to Peru. It is part of the Capsicum baccatum species and is cherished for its citrusy, lemon-like taste and moderate heat. Lemon Drop peppers are small, tapered, and typically measure about 2–3 inches long. They ripen to a bright yellow color, resembling the zest of a lemon. The plant itself is highly productive, often yielding over 100 fruits per season. It grows upright and can reach heights of 4–6 feet, making it a striking addition to gardens. The Lemon Drop pepper has a Scoville heat rating of 15,000–30,000 SHU, placing it in the medium-hot range. It is hotter than a jalapeño but milder than a habanero. The heat is quick and sharp but does not linger excessively, allowing its citrusy flavor to shine through. This pepper is known for its unique combination of heat and tangy, fruity notes. Its lemony taste makes it a popular choice for adding a bright, zesty kick to dishes. Lemon Drop peppers are versatile in the kitchen. They can be used fresh, dried, or powdered to enhance salsas and hot sauces, fish and chicken dishes, fruit-based recipes, snacks like popcorn or roasted vegetables.
